Negative Effects of Alcohol

Negative Effects of Alcohol

Alcohol has long been used as both a celebratory and honorary way to acknowledge things such as promotions, weddings, religious ceremonies, etc.

However, if a person indulges too much and becomes addicted to alcohol, the negative effects can ruin their lives.

Think twice before drink and drive, you could kill inocent people, including your own child.

Think twice before drink and drive, you could kill inocent people, including your own child.

* First, family life. A person can make drinking a priority over family; withdrawing and shutting themselves off and preferring to drink rather than take part in an active family life.  This can come back to haunt them later as their spouse gets fed up and decides to leave, one of their children ends up as an alcoholic, or refuses to speak to them.

* Second, financially. A person can end up spending literally hundreds of dollars per month on alcohol. * Why is the car payment late?  Where is the mortgage payment?  Why are the credit card people calling? * Look at the stack of twelve packs or bottles of hard liquor and the answer becomes apparent.  Also, drinking can cost a person his or her job and that can lead to financial disaster as well.

* Third, legal problems. People are not in their right minds after drinking too much.  Many people think they are okay and get behind the wheel of a car.  This can lead to being stopped by an officer, if the drunk driver is weaving about.  People literally go to prison for multiple drunk driving offences.  Truthfully, the worst thing imaginable and yet it happens frequently, is getting behind the wheel of a car, and killing innocent people.  It could be your own child in the backseat, another driver coming from the opposite direction, or even a pedestrian.  When you make the decision to drive drunk, you are putting everyone on the road at risk, including yourself.

* Fourth, psychological problems. Drinking leads to anti-social behavior as a person becomes more inclined to separate himself from others, preferring to drink alone.  Drinking impairs the brain and a person does not make wise decisions.  He or she can become irritable, suffer from mood swings and become anxious and paranoid.

* Fifth, physical problems. Drinking can lead to physical ailments and some of them are not reversible.  Heart and circulatory problems, liver failure, kidney damage, Toxic Hepatitis, to name a few.

* The negative effects of alcohol far outweigh the positive ones.

If you have a drinking problem, please seek help before it is too late.  If you know someone with a drinking problem, help them face the fact that they need help, even if an intervention is needed.
